Global warming; endangering species
important to our fragile eco-system; and slowly polluting our planet to
the point of suffocation, is reason enough to start recycling.Although it may not seem as though you can help save the world
immediately, every small part of
recycling is helping improve the
environment.
Global warming has been the threat plaguing our thoughts more recently,
especially with the release of Al Gore’s, (ex-Vice President of the USA,
and environmental activist) documentary An Inconvenient Truth. While he
uncovers truths linked to carbon emissions, and pollution emitted into
our ozone layer, slowly depleting our protection from the sun; he also
ponders the thought that the chemicals and emissions used to create such
products like plastic and glass bottles can be linked to the cause of
global warming too.
The discarding of plastic and glass without recycling, can also lead to
vast amounts of garbage piling up and slowly warming up the earth, by
holding in certain chemical elements and creating a chemical imbalance.
For example, if a sandwich is sealed in a plastic container and
discarded, it can take up to three times as long for the sandwich to
naturally expire, and return to the earth as it was originally.
Sometimes, when certain products are sealed and discarded without
aeration it can cause a chemical reaction, and cause some unnecessary
toxins being released into the air.
By not recycling your glass and plastic products, a good portion of the
time, these products are released into the environment, and into the
lives of animals.
It’s considered common-fact that approximately 12 billion tones of
garbage are loaded into the world’s oceans each year.
A plastic 6-pack ring from any sort of drink can easily harm a small
bird, by choking it. A predator may mistake a piece of garbage for its
prey, and soon enough devour it, causing the animal to die, by cause of
not being able to process the garbage.
When a species eventually dies out, it can mean dangerous things for our
eco-system. Many animals provide their own way of helping the
environment, work, and survive, especially in such harsh times with the
amount of pollution being produced.
With the threat of a species dying out, and losing a part of its job in
the environment, so do our chances of dying out by not being able to
keep a healthy eco-system working for our world.
Here are a few small facts about why we should recycle:
It is commonly believed that almost every single piece of plastic ever
produced in the world, is still in existence to this very day.
By recycling such products, the extra production of the items wouldn’t
exist, and those pieces of plastic that are still in existence and doing
nothing could be useful to the world!
Recycling plastic bottles, bags and containers can be beneficial to your
community! Recycled plastic can be turned into play-sets for parks, new
shopping bags, and even park benches!
So do the best that you can for the world, and your local community.
By recycling you can create new opportunities and jobs for people, while
being earth-conscious and help protect your environment from
destruction.
